BEC Night, a Successful Fiesta Event - STP News - Santa Teresita Parish

The Basic Ecclesial Communities (BEC) night that was held on the first day of the Novena for St. Therese of the Child Jesus, September 25, 2014 was a big success.  It aimed at bringing the newly revived thirty eight (38) clusters together to raise consciousness to the new way of being a parish.  These thirty eight (38) clusters are members of a neighborhood who come together weekly for the Bible sharing.  They all came prepared to perform songs and dances and to share food.

The theme of the BEC night was: “Mga Laykong Sama-samang Nagsasaya’t Nagkakaisa para sa Ebanghelisasyon tungo sa Munting Sambayanang Kristiyano”. (Laity Coming Together to Celebrate and Unite for Evangelization towards Basic Christian Community).  Bro. Val Canilao, the BEC coordinator of the parish together with the different “pastol” shepherd leaders organized this event.

The “El Shaddai” group led the animation at the beginning of the program. They sang lively songs that everyone in the hall actively participated. After Bro. Val gave the welcome address, Fr. Richard, the parish priest gave an inspirational talk and then Bro. Tatang Mendoza an invited BEC lay leader from the Archdiocese of Manila gave a very inspiring sharing of the role of the laity. He emphasized the big challenge of the laity in the evangelizing work of the Church.  The whole program was hosted by Sis. Edith Porquez and Sis. Tita Ramos.
