Brief Historical Background of Sta. Teresita Parish

For many, many years, the Chapel of St Therese of the Child Jesus in West Rembo was under the Military Vicariate. West Rembo (Riverside Enlisted Men’s Barrio) was a barrio of Fort William McKinley or Fort Bonifacio. Masses were said at 8 in the morning every second Sunday of the month. There were times when the townsfolk would wait until 9am, but the assigned priest would not come. Some faithful would go to St. Michael inside the Fort and some to San Roque in Pateros to hear mass, others would just go home to prepare lunch for their families.

The waiting came to an end, when on July 12, 1992, the Parish of West Rembo dedicated to St. Therese of the Child Jesus, was established by the Montfort Missionaries (Congregation of the Company of Mary). Sta Teresita Parish is to become the mission station of the Montfort Postulants, Scholastics and   Deacons and also to assist the Archdiocese of Manila in bringing the sacraments closer to the people.
