163 Kids Received First Communion

Published by Fr. Richard Magararu,SMM in News Update · 18/10/2014 09:44:57

The much awaited day for the one hundred sixty three children (73 boys and 90 girls) had finally come on Saturday, October 18, 2014 the feast of St. Luke, the evangelist.  Parents and their children who were both excited started to come at nine o’clock in the morning. After thirty minutes of waiting, the celebration begun by the entrance march of the candidates two by two flanked by their parents. The procession of the ministers then followed.

The readers, psalmist and the commentator were all first communicants.  They performed their role well and the participation of the whole congregation especially in their responses and singing was very touching.  The catechists are to be commended for their job well done.  They had prepared all the candidates for five weeks.  Parents were also given seminar and were asked to be present for the rehearsal.  It was nice to see their full support to their children as shown by their active cooperation.

Part of the long preparation for this special event was their first confession.  It was held on September 20, 2014 in the parish church.  Four priests were made available for the young penitents.  The candidates for this first communion are Grade Three pupils of Fort Bonifacio Elementary School.  Some of them are coming from neighboring parishes.  The solemn mass was presided by Fr. Richard Magararu, SMM.  He was assisted by Fr. Angelito Pusikit, SMM in distributing communion to the kids.
