93 Kids from West Rembo Elementary School Received First Communion

Published by Fr. Richard Magararu, SMM in News Update · 28/10/2014 03:39:52

The parish of Santa Teresita is truly blessed with children desiring to be fully part of a Eucharistic celebration. This is attested by the two celebrations of first communion in one month. The first batch coming from Fort Bonifacio Elementary School received their first Holy Communion last October 18, 2014.  The second batch was last Saturday, October 25, 2014.  There were ninety three (93) children who were all excited to receive communion for the first time.  Girls were in white dress and white veil while boys were in black pants and white long sleeves shirt.

The celebration started at 2:00 o’clock in the afternoon.  The parents accompanied them during the entrance procession.  They bowed in front of the altar before going to their assigned chairs. The children were all actively participating in the singing and responding in the mass.  During the Holy Communion they came up to the sanctuary two by two right in front of the altar where two pews were placed for them to kneel down. It was rehearsed a week before so they knew what to do.  Fr. Richard Magararu, who presided the mass and Rev. Benjie Notarte, the assisting deacon were the ones who distributed the Holy Communion.

This event will surely be remembered by the kids and be a reminder for parents of their Christian duty to be responsible for the faith formation of their own children.  The parents showed cooperation and support especially during the period of preparation that lasted for two months.  They have to accompany their children on several Sunday masses and made sure that the attendance sheet be signed by the presiding priest after the mass.  The catechists deserve to be congratulated again for the job well done.  They patiently catechized and guided the children in their first confession, making sure that they have done it correctly.  We hope and pray that the formation given to these children will help them to become good Christians.
